Beautifull handmade baskets from Ghana
The Bolgabasket is a traditionally handmade basket from Bolgatanga in Ghana. The basket is made from savanna grass which grows in the wild in some of Ghana’s forested areas. Saw an grass is know for its flexibility, firmness and durability.
The process of creating a basket takes up to a week! The blades of grass are first sorted, then split and rolled up. After this they undergo a tinting process to achieve the desired colour. A weaver then requires a further three days to weave the basket and make the handles for the basket.
When the process is completed each basket carries a piece of Africa’s heart and soul!
